Only use the word “still” if your partner is currently living with their parents.

This is completely normal, but take care to not fall into a long silence while thinking of your answer. Remember Golden Rule 1: avoid silence by saying something quickly. One way to express your uncertainty is to use one or more of the expressions below. Using these will not only help you avoid silence, but also give you a few moments to think of something to say.

ここで、「it’ll depend on ◯◯」というフレーズを使うと、どうしてまだ分からないのかという理由までついでに伝えることができて便利です。積極的に使ってみましょう。例えば、次のようになります。 Note that the phrase “it’ll depend on ◯◯” is an especially good way to provide more detail on why you are not sure about something.
